Around 2001, I decided that I was going to take up photography again as a hobby. My previous encounters with photography had been really successful during my teens, but I was beginning to get overwhelmed with people who would ask me to come photograph their events and such and so gave it up. When I made the decision to come back to photography, I reasoned that I would do it for myself, first and not feel pressured into becoming embroiled in the commercial side of the business.
My decision to attend a refresher course was one of the best I have ever made. I got to learn about apertures, framing and composition, developing and working in the dark room, and street photography, as well as being introduced to some photography masters like Martin Parr, or Henri Cartier Bresson, Annie Leibovitz and Cindy Sherman. It was great!
Second Hand Nikon Fm2
Used Nikon Fm2
I had bought myself a Nikon N95, which is an automatic camera, but was enthralled with going back to basics and so purchased a Nikon FM2, a fully manual camera. With this workhorse, I set about making photographs the way it used to be. All the decision making, focus, aperture, exposure speeds were down to me and me alone.
The Nikon FM2n does have an exposure meter so that helped somewhat.
